Press Release: WHO'S THERE?

 

August 16th and 17th, 2008, Garrison Art Center's 39th Annual Fine Arts & Crafts Fair (ACF) continues its tradition as a premier event in the Hudson Valley for collectors of fine art and craft.

Here are some 2008 exhibitor highlights:

 

Returning collectors will be pleased to see Jay Lindsay Pottery making a 38th appearance at the ACF.  Virginia Piazza, Deborah Lecce, and Lisa Knaus are back-- exciting professionals who also offer courses through GAC's Ceramic Studios.  Several new fine artists are in this year including David Oster, and Gudeon Family Press.  Basketry is well represented by African Basket Culture and by Rich Borden's Hand Carved Root Baskets.  Margaret Lent Handwovens is back with chenille scarves and well-tailored women's jackets.  Also in fiber art we have returning True Blue TC  Collection using traditional indigo printing, Jeri Canfield of Traditional Patchwork with unique quilts, and sophisticated hats from Lisa Shaub New York Ltd.   Nationally known Hudson Beach Glass, returns with their popular line of functional cast and blown glass objects.  New stained glass artists to the Fair are Centerpoint Glassworks and Artistic Endeavors.  Returning with special items for children are Anne Bates with her delightful ceramic sea creatures, Story Time Quilts with their play centers, and Winning Woolies and BodyscapesKids are both in with wonderful clothing and accessories for boys and girls.  Woodworking is diversely represented with exhibitors such as Country Turned Wood, Jonathan's Spoons, F&M Windsor Chairmakers, McNally Instruments, and wooden kayaks by Riverschoolboats. In addition to many returning jewelry exhibitors collectors have many new options including Micheal Alexander's exquisitely detailed work, Merrie Buchsbaum's modern designs in polymer clay, and Courtney Gillen's work incorporating sea glass.  Visiting with satisfying treats are Pocono Kettle Korn, (with smoothies too), Go-Go Pops with unbelievable popsicles, Krazy for Kazu's gourmet bottled dressings and sauces, Beth's Farm Kitchen (preserves), Dutch Desserts (fruit tarts), Hummingbird Ranch (honey, maple syrup and related products), Whitecliff Vineyards, and always on hand is GAC's Food Tent & Grill with something tasty for everyone.  Also visiting to highlight their many programs are Scenic Hudson, and the Beacon Sloop Club (providing free rides on the Sloop Woody Guthrie).

Juried work includes ceramics, basketry, jewelry, fiber arts, paintings and prints, woodwork, glass, toys, sculpture, metalwork, photography, decorative arts, gourmet specialty foods, & boatbuilding.

 

Best part of the Fair?  Proceeds fund GAC's terrific programming for adults and children all year!
